At Northern Realms we bring the past to life with immersive, action-packed experiences that transport your guests straight into the world of Vikings, knights and legendary warriors.
Founded and run by husband and wife, Northern Realms combines a passion for history, fantasy and live entertainment to create unforgettable event experiences across the UK.
We specialise in Viking themed archery, axe throwing and spear throwing for weddings, festivals, corporate events and private parties. Guests are guided by experienced instructors in full Viking kit, using real longbows, hand-crafted axes and traditional spears for an authentic experience that is both thrilling and safe.
From complete beginners to seasoned warriors, everyone is welcome. With expert coaching, plenty of Viking banter and a crowd cheering every throw, even the most nervous guest quickly finds their inner warrior. Many weddings even begin with the bride and groom taking the ceremonial first throw of the axe.
We do not simply set up a range. We become part of your event. Our team are instructors, entertainers and storytellers, bringing energy, humour and atmosphere that keeps guests laughing, competing and coming back for more.

Our Story
Northern Realms was founded by husband and wife team Phoenix and Donna, driven by a shared love of history, mythology and creating unforgettable experiences for people.
What started as a personal passion for archery and Viking history quickly grew into something much bigger. After years of practising traditional archery and axe throwing, we realised how much joy these activities brought to friends and family whenever we introduced them to it. The laughter, the friendly competition and the moment someone lands their first perfect throw is something special.
That spark led us to create Northern Realms.
From the very beginning we wanted to do things properly. Real equipment, authentic themes and an experience that felt immersive rather than just another activity stall. We appear at events in full Viking or medieval attire, bringing traditional longbows, handcrafted axes and spears so guests can experience these legendary skills in a safe, exciting and unforgettable way.
Over the years we have travelled across the UK bringing our ranges to weddings, festivals, reenactments, corporate events and private parties. One of our proudest moments was appearing on History Hit TV alongside the renowned historian Mike Loades, often described as the David Attenborough of history. We are also proud to work with the Royal Armouries as an official supplier for their events.
For us, Northern Realms is about more than just throwing axes or shooting arrows. It is about giving people a moment to step out of the modern world and feel the thrill of something ancient, powerful and timeless.
When someone who has never thrown an axe before suddenly lands their first perfect hit and the whole crowd cheers, that is why we do what we do.

Hails to the Viking Horde!
We had a great experience with the team at Northern Realms. The communication was not notch, with everything arranged and agreed a long time in advance. We had the Axe Throwing set up for our Wedding and it was brilliant, a really good fun experience, full of information and Viking related / Axe related details and tales. Our whole wedding part got involved, and everyone felt safe. and well instructed. We asked team to stay after the session to enjoy the rest of the wedding, as we were camping and they were great people, very friendly. But don't tell them that as it might ruin the rough and touch Viking persona ! We would defiantly have them again if needed, and I'm sure we will keep in touch. HAILS TO THE VIKING HORDE! SKAL!

Fantastic entertainment for all the guests at our Viking themed party. Clear instructions given throughout in a really friendly way. Great communication from start to finish. They even set up a child’s axe throwing area for those too small for the real deal. A lovely couple who made everyone feel at ease and have lots of fun. If you haven’t already, you should definitely get these booked in your diary. Absolutely excellent!
