A passion that started in Congo became a family business bringing people together through food. ❤️

I’m Nadine Ekoly, founder of Perleco.

My love for cooking began in the Democratic Republic of Congo, long before Perleco existed. As one of the older siblings in my family, I spent much of my childhood helping my mother prepare meals and make sure my younger brothers and sisters were fed. Those moments taught me that food isn’t just about eating — it’s about family, culture, love and bringing people together.

In 2002, I moved to the UK and wanted to continue pursuing the passion I had carried with me from home. I started by cooking for my church, family and community. Word began to spread, and what started as cooking for the people around me gradually grew into catering for weddings, celebrations and events.

Today, Perleco has grown beyond those early beginnings, with opportunities to cater for events across the UK and internationally.

As my children, Noah and Arelie, grew up, they became part of the journey too. They began helping me behind the scenes, from managing social media and promoting the business to gaining hands-on experience at events and helping bring each booking to life.

That is what makes Perleco special — it is a family-built business with generations of love for food and culture at its heart.

10 years of catering experience, from community events to international weddings.

Perleco’s journey began with smaller community and family events before growing into a catering business trusted for weddings, celebrations, charity events and larger occasions.

Our first international booking was a wedding in France in 2016, marking an important milestone in our journey. Since then, we have continued to grow, catering for events in France and London, with four bookings across these locations.

Our clients come from a wide range of backgrounds. Some are familiar with Congolese cuisine and want to enjoy the flavours they grew up with, while others are discovering it for the first time.

Our founder, Nadine Ekoly, graduated in Hospitality Management from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston in 2018, giving her a strong academic foundation in hospitality, customer service and professional event management.

She also holds Level 3 qualifications in Food Hygiene and Food Safety Management, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining high standards of food preparation, hygiene and safety.

Alongside her formal qualifications, Nadine has years of hands-on experience catering for weddings, private celebrations, charity events, community occasions and international bookings across the UK and France.
