Our Story
At Smith & Co, we provide a complete private-chef experience from start to finish.
The process begins with a personalised email consultation, where we discuss your event, your preferences, and any dietary requirements. We then arrange a meeting—either in person or virtually—to design a bespoke menu tailored exactly to your tastes and needs.
Once the menu is confirmed, Darren sources only the finest, freshest ingredients, ensuring every dish is crafted to the highest standard.
On the day of your event, Darren arrives at your home fully equipped with everything required: plates, cutlery, tableware, professional cooking equipment, and beautifully printed menus designed specifically for your occasion. He then prepares and cooks the dishes on-site, serves each course to you and your guests, and provides attentive hospitality throughout.
After the meal, Darren handles the full clean-down, leaving your kitchen spotless—just as if he had never been there.

Our Team
Smith & Co is, at its heart, just me — Darren. I personally handle every step of your dining experience, from planning your menu to cooking each dish, serving every course, and cleaning down afterwards. I believe that the personal touch is what truly sets Smith & Co apart. When you book with me, you’re not just hiring a chef — you’re welcoming the man behind the business into your home. My goal is to make every event feel unique, memorable, and tailored entirely to you, delivering the full Smith & Co experience from start to finish.
Experience
With 29 years of experience in the kitchen, I’ve dedicated my life to the craft of cooking. I am fully trained and have worked in respected Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants, as well as establishments achieving the prestigious 2 AA Rosette standard. Early in my career, I was awarded North West Young Chef of the Year and later became a finalist in the Gordon Ramsay Scholarship, both of which helped shape my passion and drive. I was also proud to be part of a team nominated for Restaurant of the Year at the Lancashire Life Awards.
These experiences have not only refined my skills but shaped the quality, creativity, and discipline I bring to every Smith & Co event today.
