About South Wales Medical Services
Organising an event involves hundreds of decisions. We help make medical cover one you can feel confident about.
South Wales Medical Services provides event medical support across the UK, working with organisers to plan suitable cover for their venue, activities and audience. From a community gathering to a busy festival or demanding sporting event, we build our provision around the people attending and the practical challenges of the location.
Our services include first aid teams, ambulance technicians, paramedics and doctors, supported by treatment posts, ambulances and rapid response vehicles. For rural venues and events across challenging terrain, our specialist 4x4 capability helps medical teams reach areas where access is more difficult.
We start by understanding your event: its programme, attendance, site layout, access arrangements and particular risks. This informs the staffing, equipment and medical arrangements we recommend, so you understand what your cover includes and why.
Our senior team includes experienced frontline clinicians, with medical oversight provided by a GMC-registered doctor. Ongoing development through our Prehospital Academy helps staff connect their clinical knowledge with the environments in which they work.
Clear communication is part of the service. Alongside direct contact with our team, our PreHospital360 client portal gives organisers an agreed view of medical activity on the day, with patient confidentiality protected.
Whether you need cover for a single event or a regular programme, tell us your dates, location and plans through Add to Event. We’ll help you work out the provision you need and provide a tailored quotation.

Our Story
South Wales Medical Services began with Simon Garratt’s belief that event organisers should be able to rely on medical support that is properly planned, properly equipped and delivered by people who understand frontline care.
Drawing on his ambulance service experience, Simon set out to build a company where those expectations shaped everyday decisions: the people recruited, the equipment provided and the preparation behind each event.
That ambition continues to guide SWMS. Alongside developing our event services and specialist vehicle capability, we have invested in clinical education through our Prehospital Academy, helping people build practical skills and confidence.
We know that every event represents someone’s hard work, and every patient is someone who deserves kindness, dignity and capable care. Providing both is what motivates us.

Our Team
SWMS is led by founder and Managing Director Simon Garratt, whose frontline ambulance background helps shape our approach to event planning, patient care and supporting our crews.
Our Medical Lead is a GMC-registered doctor, providing medical leadership and clinical oversight. They work alongside a senior management team with practical experience of delivering care in demanding environments.
Jay Rhys leads our governance and clinical training work. An IHCD Ambulance Technician who qualified in 2016 and became a Clinical Mentor in 2018, Jay brings experience from the UK and overseas, including enhanced care and remote environments. His teaching focuses on helping people apply their knowledge confidently in real situations.
For each event, we bring together personnel with the skills appropriate to the agreed medical plan. Just as importantly, we value people who are approachable, communicate clearly and treat patients, organisers and fellow staff with respect.
