About The Daaler

Our menu consists of the following: 3 Types of daal, RED (Sri Lankan–inspired), GREEN (with fresh kale and French lentils), and BLACK (inspired by the Indian daal makhani) with their respective toppings; Garlic naan; and Dalston soda ginger, rhubarb and peach complementing our daal very well.

Everything on the menu is plant-based (all good for vegans and vegetarians) and nut-free. The only allergens being (wheat)gluten in the naan and mustard in the green daal. For the garlic naan, we provide a gluten-free alternative. All allergens are clearly communicated.

From our food trailer, we serve about 70 people per hour.

The whole idea of The Daaler came from the conviction that there should be more plant-based food options that don't turn away non-vegans and that don't give in on creaminess, flavour and nutrition.

Lentils are a very sustainable crop: they naturally enrich the soil with nitrogen, reducing the need for synthetic fertilisers; they require minimal water and have a significantly lower carbon footprint than most animal-based proteins.
