Ninjō Noodle Bar
Ninjō Noodle Bar provides plant-based Pan-Asian street food served from their mobile noodle bar food truck in Wiltshire and the South West. They have been supplying their freshly cooked food at local street markets, festivals, weddings and corporate events since 2012 and use powerful wok cookers to cook each meal individually. Read on to find out more about the ethics behind this company and some advice on choosing caterers for your event.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a quote we would need to know the anticipated amount of guests, the type of event eg, wedding, festival or corporate event and how far the event is away from our prep kitchen so we can work out accurate travel and staff costs. We'd also look for information regarding the type of food required and the time scale it needs to be served in. As a business serving vegetarian and vegan food we prefer to target our quotes to customers who are looking for exactly that type of meal. All our meals are freshly cooked to order so it takes a little longer to get everyone fed but the extra time and effort is worth it.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure when looking for a quote that you provide as much information as you can relating to your event. You're more likely to get quotes for your event if you including information about the venue, the facilities available and specifically the type of cuisine you would like. Ask the provider about their business and why they do what they do to help you find out if you are both thinking on the same tracks. For example, while our business provides Asian noodle dishes, we do so from a health and ethical point of view. Ask about the ingredients being used the possibility of adapting dishes to personal tastes. Our food is cooked to order and while it may take a little longer we can make changes on the go to suit certain tastes.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Ninjō Noodle Bar was created after searching for the secrets behind Chinese takeaway food and how it could be reproduced at home. After revealing some of the less palatable truths such as the amount of MSG, sugar, salt and colourings added to the food, work began on making healthier, but just as flavoursome Asian meals. By maintaining the business focus from a health and ethical point of view ingredients and products could be sourced that created a mouthwatering Wok Fresh flavour while catering for demanding and health-conscious customers.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I definitely recommend Add to Event. The system works well and has increased our visuality to customers looking for an Asian Street Food service such as ours. We had a booking last year for a brand new charity event in Bath where we had queues of hungry walkers thankful for a nourishing meal late in the evening. The organisers were very happy with the way things went and have invited us back again this year.
