What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

If you were to let us know a little bit about your proposed venue, what sort of style you would like to have - i.e. traditional formal sit-down, sharing platters on the tables, buffet etc, and whether we would be indoors our outside, roughly how many guests and a little bit about what sort of menu you have in mind we would be pleased to send over a detailed quotation!

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Our advice would be to ask things such as, is your produce local or bought from cash and carry outlets? Will the food be cooked at our venue or brought in and re-heated? (It's never as good re-heated) How many serving staff will you have? (We have all been to weddings where it's taken ages to be served because there is insufficient staff) Do you bring all your own kitchen equipment?

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

My daughter's wedding was a fiasco and I thought - I could do that a whole lot better - so I did! And that's how I started - 14 years ago now and it's all gone very well, been an interesting ride and we've all had a whole load of fun doing it. Hard work of course but fun at the same time and we've been lucky to have made friends with lots of great people all over East Anglia, Essex. Kent etc.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

There have been so many over the years but we did a very interesting event this year through Add to Event for the National Hedge-laying Championship near Cambridge. When I received the request I thought - what exactly is that - but it turned out to be a countryside event, filmed for BBC TV's Country side File and being something totally different, cooking for the film crews and all the people taking part, it was really great fun.
Other memorable events were one on the Norfolk/Suffolk border where the Groom arranged for his two best men to go up in two 'stunt aeroplanes' doing acrobatics etc. for all to see. They were not in a good state when they were dragged out of the planes!!! And - it was all arranged without them knowing! Brilliant! Plus, we did a wedding in North Essex where they wanted a 9-course meal served with limoncello served in frozen glasses between every course! Now THAT WAS a great day and we're still friends with the family now.
