Burger Van Hire in Devon

Based in Devon, Sweet Chilli Beef Company is a mobile gourmet burger, nacho, baked potato bar who also provides vintage high teas, hog roasts and hot and cold buffets. They provide services for parties, weddings, wakes, events, functions and farm auctions.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

The event date, location and occasion. Estimated number of guests, the venue and its facilities, if there is a budget per head. We can tailor a service to the budget, starting from a basic package to upgrading with ‘add ons’ such as better plates, napkins our staff in relevant attire - if it’s to be a themed wedding for example.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Why do you specialise in this particular area of cuisine? What makes you different from others? How are your ingredients sourced and made? Do you pay attention to detail? If your menu isn’t quite what we want would you be willing to make some alterations? An understanding of food ethics, the science involved and not only the importance of eating with your eyes but the food not being disappointing when tasted.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I come from a farming background, and have reared native breed beef since I was a very young child. I take the holistic approach to food and farming. I also have experience with the importance of healthy eating and have worked with the Devon Youth Service teaching children to cook, not to be scared of it, and to make it fun! I started the business from my experience as a beef farming, hence I’m called the Sweet Chilli Beef Company. Due to a lot of Indian restaurants not using beef in their dishes for religious reasons it was an area that I felt needed to be explored. There is a notable difference between UK native breed beef fed on grass only and also the herbs present in the grasses to that from continental breeds fed on concentrates and hurried in their growth. I make sure I cater for gluten free, vegetarians and vegans. I won 1st in the public vote in the UK Chilli Cook Off in 2014, and 1st in the Devon Chilli Fiesta with my sweet chilli sauce.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have recently secured my first booking through Add to Event, and it’s happening on the 27th May. I’ve pulled out all of the stops to make a great impression, and hope to get a positive review from it as I don’t have any yet. I’ve gone above and beyond what’s expected from me in order to obtain this! I’ll let you know how it goes!
