For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests and potential venue, as well as whether it's an indoor or outdoor event. What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

There are many, many options available when you want to add music to your event but the important things to consider are the suitability of the music provider, the 'footprint' (i.e. how much space you have, the facilities available such as power) and your budget. If you want a reliable and professional band playing a particular genre (say country, pop or barn dance) for your wedding, party or corporate event then you need a professional outfit that has experience performing at your type of event. If you have limited space and need a wide range of genres then a DJ may be the best choice. If, on the other hand, you have no budget (say for a charity event) then you should be looking for a local amateur band who will play for free or expenses. One you have decided these aspects you can determine the type of musical provider you require, as well as the budget you need to have.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

The Hoedown Band started in 2007 when there was a resurgence of country and Americana music in the UK. Led by respected roots guitarist and band leader Brian Heywood the group comprised of fully professional musicians who were experienced in the genre. Brian's vision was to combine well known country songs with barn and line dance to get a Hoedown Party in a van. Fun for all ages. Since then the band has played events and festivals around the UK (and the world) to become the busiest band of its type in the UK.

We have had many great bookings ranging from big charity events and corporate fun days to intimate parties for audiences down to 10 people.
