Joy’s Parties offers you premium entertainment with energy and love for children ages 2 to 8. Amongst other activities are balloon modelling, glitter tattoos and plenty of games and dancing with props and prizes to make your child’s birthday party a memorable event! What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide a comprehensive quote, ideally, I need the date, time and duration of the entertainment for the event (birthday party or other public or private event). Also to make sure my entertainment is best adapted to your need, information such as the type of venue (at home, town hall etc), number of children and their ages are very helpful, even if they are just an estimate. As for the theme, it is not necessary to choose one prior to booking, however, for any costume, I do not yet have I ideally need a month's notice (though it does happen that I can get it in under a week). For others such as Ariel, Elsa, Belle, Zookeeper/explorer, Dashi (The Octonauts), Spidergirl, Irongirl, pirate or a general party with my Joy's Parties rainbow dress, a 24h notice or more is fine.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly ask the provider how much experience they have entertaining children's parties in general, and more specifically parties similar to yours (regarding the number of children, ages, party space available and theme). With experience, an entertainer becomes more adaptable and reliable in providing the best possible service. I'd then ask them a detailed breakdown of the party: games, dancing activities, other perks such as glitter tattoos and balloon modelling, whether there are any prizes for the children (sweets, medals, stickers, tattoos, puzzle and/or colouring books and other toys), and what equipment is used (ribbons, bubble sword or machine, pompoms, pass the parcel, parachute, balls etc). The best parties have quantity, and quality, with tons of energy and love!!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

First of all, I love children and am a strong believer in keeping one's inner child alive!! I've also always had a strong passion for acting as well as dancing and singing plus tons of energy. So naturally, after graduating from Guildford School of Acting I immediately became a children's party entertainer. I worked several years for an agency, and 150 parties or so later, and with all the positive feedback I was getting, I decided it was time for me to set myself up independently. And so Joy's Parties was born.

It is such a joy to dance and play with smiling children. I also very much enjoy impersonating all sorts of characters (princesses, superheroes, fairies, pirates, unicorns etc.) I love how excited the children get, especially when I weave some themed storytelling into all our fun and games.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I only joined a little over 2 weeks ago and have already had 4 party bookings!!! Entertained 2 of them this weekend. Both were amazing!! I got to dress up as Skye from Paw Patrol and Princess Belle, playing games and dancing with 2 and 5-year-olds. I also very much enjoyed treating them to balloons and glitter tattoos. At both parties, I was congratulated on how well I engaged all of the 20 to 25 children, and many parents asked for my details. Add to Event is a brilliant platform and I've already recommended it to one of my DJ friends. Really looking forward to seeing how many more opportunities Add to Event will bring to my new business.
