Ilan The Robotic Man has performed walkabout robotic mime, robot entertainment and party dancing entertainment for more than 20 years, for all types of functions from children’s parties to carnivals. Here he shares his story and also some ideas for when looking to book an entertainer for an event.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event, the estimated number of guests, and a potential venue, whether it's an indoor or outdoor event. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

You should be looking for an experienced entertainer that is fairly local to you and is competitive with their quote, prior to booking it is always best to call and discuss your type of party with the entertainer to see if what they can do will meet your expectations.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started as a dancer and party entertainer over 25 years ago after realising that I had a natural flare for dance and performing arts, I wanted to offer a unique performance and did so by providing Mime and Robotics and by teaching the children how to dance Mime and basic street dance choreography that all could follow and enjoy. My costumes add a great deal of variety to any party.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Wow!! There have been lots of bookings through this platform that I am personally so happy about. If I had to pick one, it would be performing at a charity street festival, where I performed outdoors for over 400 people, and they all loved the Mime and robotics and interactive nature of my act. The reviews were amazing. The client and her guests were very happy and are using me again for their next event.
