DJ David James
DJ David James, based in Surrey, provides DJ services for ages 1 - 100 years, in other words, parties for all! Here he shares his story of how he started and also some advice about how to find the best DJ for your event and what to check in a prospective supplier.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For me to provide an accurate estimate I will need to know the event date, venue, party start and end time.
The number of guests and whether it is inside or outside would also be useful information.
From this information, I can gauge the sort of set up you would require and offer a very competitive price for you.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Any reputable company would be able to offer a website and/or social media page where they would post blogs, pics and vids of previous events that they have DJ'd for. I would also want to know how long they have been DJ'ing for and the sort of events that they have covered. Find out the sort of equipment that they have and also the insurances that they have in place.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
DJ David James is very much in its infancy as a business but I have been DJ'ing for a long time. I spent a lot of time thinking about branching out on my own having DJ'd for other companies and decided to take the plunge spring of 2019. I spent the next 6 months researching the market to ensure I had the best equipment and that I would be able to position myself in the market at an affordable rate. I have DJed at Corporate Events, Xmas Parties, NYE Parties, Engagement Parties, Weddings and Birthday Parties so if you book me you will know you are in safe hands.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Well, I have had a good few bookings from Add to Event but the most recent one was for New Year's Eve at The Leafy Elephant in Wokingham.
Add to Event was a perfect site as it allowed me to see what The Leafy Elephant required and I was able to tailor my quote accordingly. By having the managers telephone number from the start also meant I was able to contact him easily and understood the finer requirements he had.
By understanding what sort of music his customers wanted I absolutely smashed the party and had the dance floor buzzing to past midnight. I have since been asked if I would be willing to cover and other events for them which of course I am more than happy to do.
