What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
We need some information before we undertake a project, to ensure a successful and safe flight.
1) The Location:
This should be the exact area where the aerial activity will take place. We’ll need this information in advance to check that we can legally fly there and the airspace isn’t restricted. The postcode and nearest house number will be useful.
2) The work required:
We want to meet your expectations so it is important to know what we will be filming or photographing. Is it a building, a wind turbine, a field, sporting event, person, group, venue or a shot for shot promotional film? Please let us know so we can plan accordingly, we are happy to get creative with you, or advise further. This is where we'll need the most information.
3) Weather and alternate dates:
Use of drones is weather permitting. Do you have alternative dates and times this work could take place should we not be able to fly? What works for you?
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
One should always check that the supplier of aerial work is certified by the CAA, this can be checked on their website. This ensures that they have passed the necessary training and checks for a safe and legal flight.
The insurance information is also useful, the supplier should always be able to provide you with a pre-site survey before the flight and permission from the landowner should be obtained by the client.
It is important to know what we will be filming or photographing. Is it a building, a wind turbine, a field, sporting event, person, group, venue or a shot for shot promotional film? The number of people that will be in the shot or in the area also plays a factor in aerial work.
Remember that drones can't fly in the wind or rain, or close to building or people that aren't under control of the pilot in command of the aircraft!
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I’ve been flying to over almost 2 years now, building up a portfolio of images and honing my aerial and camera skills. Now, I’ve been through the proper training, written up all the paperwork and have been approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority to gain a Permission for Commercial Operation for the flight of small unmanned aircraft... which most people know as “drones”. I decided to formally start my business because I like all things remote control, video and techie.
I have a keen eye for photography and video imagery, as well as a soul for storytelling, and an urge for adventure and finding new places. So I would love to help you out if you need it. To capture a unique angle, a beautiful building, your house from above, your business or grounds of your hotel or gardens, golf club or venue. Maybe you’re planning to get a load of friends together and you’d like a special photo? Or your work colleagues are spelling out the company name and you need a photo from the sky?
I love this type of thing and can't wait to work with you.
