What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote, ideally we need an event date, a full overview of timings, a brief explanation of the event and all the activities happening, this helps us risk and resource assess. We need to know the expected number of visitors or competitors as well as where this is all being held, including a site map is really helpful as we need to plan emergency vehicle routes and rendezvous points. From all this information we can use our experience, expertise and industry guidance to put together a really accurate, financially efficient but safe quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

If you're looking to hire a medical provider, I cannot stress enough how important it is that you do your due diligence. There are so many small companies out there who will offer you a really cheap but really poor service. A reputable and professional medical provider may cost more, but you can rest assured things will be done properly, professionally and your staff and visitors will be safe. A professional and reputable company will be supported by a whole host of risk assessments, policies and procedures which govern their work, ensuring they work to high standards. They'll have really good insurance, not just Public Liability but Medical Malpractice. Check the cleanliness of their staff, of their vehicles, check their registrations, CQC, HCPC or other professional registrations. Have a look at their kit. But also, check to see if they're subcontracting out your job to other providers or contractors.

If in doubt, get a second opinion. As a professional provider of quality medical cover, we would have no problem looking over your event and recommending a good professional company for you to use, even if we're not the right fit for you. At the end of the day there is enough work out there for all of us providers and i'd rather see your event succeed with a good, quality provider we recommended than on the news with a cheap provider who cut some corners which may cost some lives.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Bluestone Medical started back in 2018 when we identified a need for a quality medical provider in a rather secluded area of the Dorset countryside. My passion has always been helping people and it just seemed like a natural step in my career. Before long the company exploded with requests for our help and to this day we just haven't stopped. Over the past few years we've branched out into additional areas as well, such as community engagement and training people to save lives and become first aiders in their workplace. We've also given back to our community with generous grants and installed defibrillators. It all comes back to this love of helping people and our community.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
