What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To provide an accurate quote for your event we need the date of the event, the expected number of guests and also their ages. We need to know whether there is a theme to the party or event, too. Information on the venue, including the postcode, is vital for accurate pricing. We can then make sure that our quotation suits your specific needs.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Don't go just go for the cheapest face painter you find. Often the cheapest operators will not necessarily have sufficient insurance cover, hygiene practices or experience. Make sure that the painter you choose has full public liability insurance and that they use professional quality hypo-allergenic paints. Ask
what experience they have. Face painting is a skill where you are always learning, so if someone has been practicing for years, the chances are they will produce consistently excellent quality designs. Check how many faces they can paint in an hour. Typically a painter can paint approximately 12 good quality full faces in an hour.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Funtastic Faces came into being due to my twin daughters being bought a face painting kit for their second birthday. They wanted mummy to paint their faces, I did and found I had a natural talent for it. Since then I have improved and trained over the years. 18 years on and both of my girls are working for me in their uni holidays!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have had some fantastic bookings through Add to Event - one that sticks in my mind is
painting at several Premier League events. We were employed to entertain the siblings of the premier league junior players who were accompanying their brothers at the tournament. We met people from Middlesbrough to Brighton and received so many positive comments. The customer was really impressed and has used us several times since. We are looking forward to this year's events!
