What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to be able to provide a customer with a comprehensive quote, we ideally need the event date/time, the location, the number of guests, whether it's an indoor or outdoor event, the occasion and theme. From this information, we will be able to give you an up-to-date quote. If your event is a public event and you would like us to attend and charge the public for our services, we would need an approximate foot-fall figure and details of the advertisement.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, make sure the provider has up-to-date insurance. Most reputable insurance providers will not cover for children under 3 years old. Also, ask about hygiene practices. Each face painter has a different hygiene practice. For example, I use 1 sponge per client as opposed to 1 sponge per paint. This practice is very important to me because of cross-contamination. A clean kit will always be a good indicator of good hygiene practice. Also ask the face painter, how many faces they can paint in an hour. Each face painter will vary on speed.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Shona's Fabulous Faces was born out of a love for art! I started by attending some training courses with a view to face paint has a hobby. I quickly realised my potential to turn my passion into a business. I continued travelling the UK in search of the best of the best face painting instructors and perfecting my skills. I took the leap of faith and the rest is history! I have plans to continue training and keeping up-to-date with the latest products and techniques.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I can honestly say, I'm so pleased I found this platform! I recommended Add to Event on all my social media groups. People that haven't heard of it before think it's absolute genius! If I had to choose one booking, it would be our face painting services at Ragley Hall for the Firework Championships Halloween event! The organisers of that event kindly wanted to offer free face painting to their customers. Having all the required details to hand, I gave them a quote, tailored to their needs. Their customers were amazed that the face painting was free and courtesy of the event organisers! It was said to be a great addition to the event and everyone had a great evening.
