What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To be able to provide a fully tailored quote, I first need to know which of the services you require. I then ideally need the event date, the type of event you are putting on, an estimated number of guests, and the area where the event will be held. Also useful is the age of the target audience and whether any specific theme is required. If any of this information is unavailable, we can still provide a fairly accurate price, but the more detailed, the better.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Always find out what sort of events the provider is experienced at, and whether they have experience covering any theme you are requesting. Look through the photos on their page and don't be afraid to ask for more examples of their work. A supplier may be able to work with you if you have new ideas, don't be afraid to ask!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started face painting when a friend of the family was looking for a face painter for her daughter's 5th birthday party and was struggling to find affordable availability last minute. Having always been arty as well as good at makeup and having experience with young children, I offered to give it a go. I bought myself the basics and put in a bit of practice, then went for it! The parents at the party were almost as impressed as I was with myself at my first attempts! I then got a couple of parents on the day asking me to do their kid's party, and it grew from there. I now have an extensive kit and a real love for the art, and have done all sorts of events from birthday parties to christening and fundraisers to festivals!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Add to Event is such a great platform for me and really helps put me in touch with people who are looking for services just like mine! My most recent booking through the site was just last week when I attended a children's party at their home. It was a garden party, and the little girl's mum and dad had wanted everything a bunch of 4-year-olds could want and then some. As a unicorn themed party I provided several different options for unicorn face paint, as well as a large selection of unicorn glitter tattoos. Whilst not forgetting the few boys of course, and always making sure there's something a bit different for them! It was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all and I loved being a part of it. I always love seeing how happy what I do can make the children. The customer and all the children were delighted with the work I did... in fact, I got a couple of other bookings on the day!
