Sart
Sart is a face painter and body painter based in Canterbury. They love face painting and here they share a bit of that passion and tell us how they got into the trade, plus some great tips for hiring face painters for your event.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For me to provide a comprehensive quote to a new customer, I would ideally need the event date, time and location, a brief description of the type of event - whether there is a theme or not (this way I can send relevant examples of my previous work), an estimated number of guests and their estimated age. It would also be good to know if the event is having a place indoors or outdoors. These would help me sum up all the costs, calculate the time I have per painted face and give more information about my services.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Firstly, check them on other platforms - such as Instagram, Facebook - usually these are the main places they are posting about their activity. You can see from the beginning if they are doing it 'just for the money' (and that would directly mean a lower quality) or if they do it first out of passion and the money are just a result, not a purpose. In this latter case, the quality of the service is way much better. Ask the supplier about what can be personalized. If they supply a board with designs if they can create new designs just for your party if they are able to offer anything a child or adult would ask for in terms of a face painting.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started face painting first for having an extra income, but after starting to paint every day trying to improve my skills, I discovered that face painting is not just a fun way of entertainment, but a modern form of art. Now I am always trying to create unique designs and give my customers the feeling of being special. Because that feeling made me go deeper and deeper in this type of art. And I just want to spread that good feeling.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I am honestly impressed! Really! I did my profile on Add to Event I think a week ago, and I already got 2 bookings! One of them being a corporate event, which is for me (as for any other face painter) is wow! It was so easy! I just set up a profile, I followed the website's instructions of how to get better and how to have a well-done profile and then I just started to get requests and send back quotes! Clients just got back to me, selected me and after some emails, they sent over the deposit and that's it! I have bookings! It was really hard for me to get work in the area, as I recently moved in here, so not having friends, family and barely anyone to know you, to recommend you. It'd really hard in this area of work. Add to Event saved me. I really feel it's a fair process and I love it! Started to enthusiastically recommend it to a couple of face painters I know. Hope they will join and see with their eyes how amazing it is! Can't wait for my bookings! Thank you Add to Event!
