What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order for me supply a comprehensive quote, I will need the event date, location (Inc. post code), whether the event is indoors or outdoors and estimated number of guests. It would also be useful, if the event is outside, to know if shelter will be provided or if I will need to bring my own shelter.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask any face painter you contact if a) do they have public liability insurance, b) what face paint do they use, the brand of paint isn't that important, what is important is that the paint is approved for use on the skin by the EU/FDA or both. You may also want to know if the paint is vegan. C) any glitter that is used is cosmetic grade, NOT craft glitter as this can cause damage to the eyes. You may also want to know if it is biodegradable.
D) how many designs can be painted in a given time frame. You don't want to book a two hour slot with 40 guests only to find that your face painter can only complete 30 designs!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started face painting around 15 years ago. I wanted to help out at my son's primary school summer fair. I found that I loved the "Mirror moment", that part when you show the children what you have created just for them, and they smile that great big delighted smile. Over the years my kit has grown, and the compliments increased, and last year the opportunity to do what I love arose, so I took the plunge and went professional. Best thing ever!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I'm new to Add to Event, but it really has been essential to the development of my new business. Without this platform, I wouldn't have been a able to take anywhere near the amount of bookings that I have had over the past 5 months. If I had to pick one booking, I think it would be my very first one. A birthday party for the sweetest little 3 year old. Everyone thought she would pick a unicorn design, she wanted to be Spiderman!
