What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would advise customers to ask to see all legalities ie food safety, star rating, public liability. Ask if the provider can cater to different food requirements such as vegan, gluten and dairy-free. Ask if they use local produce and if they have full traceability.
Ask about experience and if they have done events similar in the past that they could show photos of, and in any case ask to see photos of the standard you expect to receive.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
The Gastropod was born after I gave up my coffee shop, as I'd dreamt of venturing into afternoon teas for weddings. I bought a mobile catering pod and very quickly established there was so much more I could do. My husband who was the first professional junior Master Chef gave me lots of advice and practical help, and the business took off so much he gave up his job in Event Catering and we now travel the country with our funkypod, to go to festivals, weddings, corporate events and so much more.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
OMG without Add to Event we wouldn't have had such a busy and varied diary. We have catered at private parties, weddings, funerals, corporate events, sporting events, charity events and more.
Recently we have done lots of repeat business for accountants and charities. Their feedback has been fantastic, and have left us amazing reviews, which has led to spin-off events. The Accountants loved that we were local to them, we did a tasting for the whole office, they all loved our quality food, cleanliness and fast service....we are looking forward to working closely with them next year.
