What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to be able to supply an accurate quote, ideally we would need the date of the event, what the customer is looking to hire (for example, numbers, letters etc), the venue or rough area of the venue, and whether the event is indoor or outdoor. From this, we can then be sure we are providing a quote which will fully satisfy the needs of the customer. Some of our items also have multiple options, and so we can offer these also to give the customer more choice.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Firstly, I would ask a supplier to see photographs of their work, where possible. From this, you can usually gain a good insight into the type of product that supplier is offering and whether it is what you imagined it to look like. Often in the industry, there are unfortunately some items which lack quality and so by doing this it avoids disappointment on the day of the event! I’d also advise people to have a general conversation with the supplier, ask lots of questions, they may have various items which they can give you details about you have never seen before or even thought about. By doing this you may make your event all the more memorable!!
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Popp decor was established quite spontaneously really!! I have always loved to plan parties, and if you asked my family and friends they would say I am quite “extra” with a go big or go home kind of attitude!! From this Popp decor was created! I worked in the party industry hosting children’s parties week in week out and so having attention to detail, and having a customer focus was what I wanted to be at the centre of my business.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
From this platform, I have had the ability to quote a series of jobs, and although many fall through, or get no response it’s always lovely to get a responses from any customer!!
One booking I got through Add to Event was a local client, who was celebrating her daughters 21st birthday. Given the lockdown situation, she wanted to try and make it as special as possible. We were able to help out add a little sparkle within all the social distancing guidelines - something which has to be thought about at every booking nowadays!!! We got amazing reviews from both the family and the birthday girl and even got sent some amazing photos which we now use to show other clients. I recommend Add to Event to anyone who I know starting up in the industry as it’s a great way to start off and get recognition! I also work alongside another company and we help each other out when we see a job the other may want to quote! It’s such an efficient, and easy platform to use.
