What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide a comprehensive quote to our clients, we would like to know the date of the event, venue, approximate amount of guests (we need to check the sound systems of the bands are adequate for the room), and the timings you would like the band at the venue. We will then be able to send you a selection of acts to consider.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It's very important that the media for the bands are available for you to view in advance. You should be able to see a video of the bands performing and a list of their songs so you can have a good idea of their repertoire and whether this suits your guests. Check also that any quotes you receive include PA systems and lights, whether recorded music is provided during intervals. and whether travelling costs are included.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Silver Dog Music was started over 15 years ago. One of the Directors has been a professional musician all his life (and signed to a major record label) and has had extensive experience in the industry. Coupled with my experience as an events coordinator, we really wanted to create an agency that offered brilliant professional bands and give our clients excellent event support throughout the whole process. Starting from our very first booking at a small festival we now provide bands for large events nationally and internationally with many well-known brands using our services.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We provided a band for a corporate event to over one thousand people and this was a great challenge as the client really wanted to treat their employees. They organised singing competitions and the winning staff went into a series of workshops, with our bands coaching them on performance and delivering vocals to a large audience. They then went on to perform with our band at the main event and they totally nailed it. It was a pleasure to be part of that experience and I was so proud to provide a band with such amazing expertise. Add to Event has provided a great variety of opportunities!
