What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

As well as the usual information such as date, time number of guests etc, it is very useful if a brief explanation of the event is given. Over the years we have carried out an amazing number of Hog Roasts for clients across the North of England, so we know that each and every event is different. Even a simple description of an event allows us to draw from years of experience and tailor our quote to the customers exact requirements.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

So many Hog Roast caterers provide only the bare minimum - pork, a bun, stuffing and some apple sauce. This is absolutely fine if that is what you are looking for but at Roasters we offer so much more! I would advise customers to take the time to read all of the details regarding what the caterer provides, this ensures that when looking at prices the customer is comparing like with like.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

My partner Terrie and I set up the business five years ago. Terrie has worked as a chef for many years, so catering for large numbers of guests doesn't stress her in the slightest. My background is somewhat different to Terrie's - coming from a family of butchers (I'm fourth generation in the meat industry) working with and cooking the pork comes naturally. I know our farmer supplier very well and I regularly visit the farm to see where our produce come from. We are both passionate about the quality of the food we provide and most importantly of all, it's meeting so many interesting people at all the different events we attend that excites us the most.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have had so many bookings through Add to Event, it's impossible to choose any one in particular. We have some regular customers who found us through Add to Event and these 'regulars' have booked us for the same event every year. Over the years, we have got to know these customers well and this wouldn't have happened if we were not working with Add to Event. I often get asked by friends to recommend a different style of catering for various events. There are so many to choose from nowadays I always advise them to begin their search for a caterer on Add to Event.
