Horsebox Bar Hire in Canterbury

The Boxed Inn provide an eye-catching, bespoke mobile bar service. Lovingly restored from a vintage 1964 horsebox, the bar is a centrepiece for any event and offers something a bit different from the usual pub bar. They aim to deliver the best atmosphere, ensure drinks are always flowing and that the party doesn’t stop!

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

So that we can provide a customer with an accurate quote, we ideally need an estimate of the number of guests, the location of the event, and whether access is suitable for a horsebox, and a brief explanation of the type of event. If there are any specific details, e.g. favourite drinks they would like us to serve, please let us know this too! We would love to help with that. With all of this along with the date of the event, we can use our experience to put together a package specifically for the customer.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Offer the provider as much information as you can in your original advert! We'd be much less likely to respond to a vague enquiry because we have to pay to send the quote; so it's very helpful to have as much detail as possible to establish if we're suitable for the event. Make sure to ask the provider about their menu, whether they have any specialties, things that could set them apart from other quotes you may receive. I would also recommend checking reviews! But definitely talking to the provider and seeing what they offer, and how happy they are to work around your needs.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Behind The Boxed Inn is Oscar and Mara – we’re a couple based in Kent. In 2020 we both had to return from New Zealand because of lockdown and, like everyone, we had a lot of spare time on our hands. The horsebox originally was used to transport Mara's pony to events years ago, but since had been sat derelict in a field. Over lockdown (1,2 AND 3), we converted it into what is now The Boxed Inn! We actually had originally planned to sell it, but when we posted it on social media the response was overwhelming and people were already enquiring! So we thought why not give it a go?

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We had a fantastic booking for a birthday party down in the Alkham Valley. After hours of manoeuvring the horsebox into an incredibly small space, we served the guests wine, beer, and a selection of premium cocktails. It went fantastically! The host was so pleased with our efforts and our quality of drinks, and we are in touch to provide our service at the next event! Add to Event was the perfect platform to find this kind of event.
