What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide a comprehensive quote for an event organiser, I require a clear indication of the date, the number of guests and the location of the venue. In addition to this, the client would specify whether the bar is to be set up outdoor or indoor, as my bar is better suited for outdoor events, this is quite crucial information. Lastly, whether the client's venue has access to power and running water is another key piece of information that will help with the quote I provide.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Compare the quotes given by local professionals, that way it'll give a good gauge on good value for money. It is also good to remember that cheap isn't always best. Requesting the menu and prices is also important. In addition to this, knowing how far the provider is willing to travel (as some charge mileage the further afield they go).
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
The COVID-19 pandemic provided me with the perfect opportunity to start up my own mobile bar business. I was in an event manager role for a large insurance firm previously, which meant that I was on furlough for over a year as the corporate event industry ground to a halt when the pandemic hit. It was such a blessing in disguise for me as I was not only given the time to start up my own business (a dream of mine for a long time) but I was also paid to do it!! I've worked in bars and restaurants for years, and coupled with my wealth of experience within the events industry, running a mobile bar business was an opportunity I couldn't miss out on!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
My first booking with Add to Event is in August this year, so I haven't got any experience to draw upon yet. However, I have since met with the customers to go over their event requirements and to work out the logistics of where the bar will be positioned at the event. The couple were so lovely and friendly and very down to earth, and I cannot wait to help host their wedding reception! I've since had lots and lots of enquiries through Add To Event which is great. Although not all of them convert, the agency provides the perfect platform to spot patterns and trends in enquiries in the local area.
