Gin or Joe is a refreshingly different, Oxford-based, mobile bar company specialising in bringing boutique spirits and artisan coffee to events all over the UK. They share some really useful advice for when hiring a provider for your event.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

We need to know the practical stuff, dates, timings, location, numbers and power/water. With that info, we can gather a picture as to where and how we can fit into the event - and if you'd like any of our additional extras such as haybale VIP seating or lawn games!

We really pride ourselves on our personalised service - as well as creating the perfect set up the Gin or Joe team helps you to create the perfect menu. You’ll be able to choose your favourite cocktails, cocktails and coffees you just need to. let us know what you have in mind - the only limit we have is your imagination!

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask as many questions as you want! We are passionate about our brand, service and suppliers. Don't be left disappointed when the cocktails are weak and same, the alcohol selection is all standard and the set up is missing finishing touches.

Try to find out whether they have done events like yours if they are able to provide pictures or even better video of their set up in action If they cannot perhaps think twice!

And safety there are many traders operating without adequate insurance, risk assessments and fire safety certificates - do check before you book or you make yourself liable.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Gin or Joe was born out of our (Dominique and Joe's) love of three things… falling off horses, a stiff G&T and a sobering cup of Joe (coffee)!

Over just a few months we lovingly transformed a 1960s Rice horsebox, identical to the one Dominique had used for her podgy childhood pony Fly, into a fully stocked horsebox bar.

From our Oxfordshire base, we use our favourite (tried and tested!) local products to create sustainable, seasonal and memorable menus for your event. We specialise in boutique spirits (namely gin) and artisan coffee and can be found at events all over the UK.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Our first booking was for a three-day equestrian demonstration, and it still stands out as our favourite! The event organisers were the loveliest pair you could have wished for and with over 700 attendees over three days we had a brilliant and busy time serving them all.

For us to see all our hard work developing our brand and products pay off was incredibly gratifying. People loved the look of our trailer, the coffee we had spent time deliberating on went down a storm, as did our Hot chocolate and Tea. None of it was your average Joe, and it was noticed complimented and gathered lots of repeat business. What more could we have wished for, joining Add to Event was the best decision we've made!
