What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For Rice Box Events to provide a really good quote we need to know the basics like the date of the event, event type, potential location and number of guests. As we are a food and drink business it's helpful to know about any dietary or allergen needs that we need to be aware of. Also, we're a really flexible business and love hearing about people's ideas... so please don't be afraid to share them in the notes section with your request. It's nice to read a little bit of detail in the request and quite hard to reply to requests like "just need quotes" etc. I think the more effort people put into the request the more interest they will get from suppliers and therefore more choice and a better price!
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When hiring a vintage horsebox bar like our stunning Hall & Smith Events bar you need to be sure that the bar will supply your preferred range of drinks. We like to buy in drinks that our customers love. Also, just because our bars our converted horseboxes people think they may have to be outside but they look just as stunning in a Marquee or Barn venue for example. For our Wood Fired Pizza Horsebox, I would say requests should ask where the supplier sources their ingredients. Pizzas are quite cheap to make but don't have to be made with cheap ingredients. We use at least a "00" flour and only use Marzano tomatoes some of which are grown on our smallholding in North Wales so we know exactly where they have come from and how they have been grown.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
We're really passionate about food and where it is sourced from. We're very lucky to run our business from a smallholding in North Wales where we are pretty self-sufficient for 9 months of the year with our homegrown produce. From field to plate in the shortest time is important to us and that principle is the same with our suppliers. Rice Box Events was formed by Jason after spending many years in the corporate world as a Director on company boards. Day to day activities are now so far removed from the previous career... and so much more rewarding however the principles of service excellence, business management and leadership supports how Rice Box as a growing and successful business. The Hall & Smith Vintage Horsebox Bar was created because we are sociable and love a good G&T like most people!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We've had a brilliant experience through Add to Event. The system is easy to use and it supports a seamless communication channel with potential clients. There is nothing like the buzz you get when you get an alert or message to say you have been chosen as a supplier! Add to Event helps us to make contact with events, shows and festivals that we would never have known about. The trouble comes with choosing which to quote.
