What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To give a comprehensive quote, we ideally need to know the 'feel' of the wedding or event. Our ice cream is a luxury product and has won over 30 Great Taste Awards so is particularly suited to corporate events, garden parties and weddings with a vintage theme or summer beach vibe. We need the number of guests, the time slot the guests are to be served in and the location and whether there is access to power. If you are hosting a wedding - you have a number of options when ice cream can be served. The Tricicle has a great wow factor so can make an appearance when you are leaving a church or even on the dance floor when tired feet are flagging.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

All ice creams are not the same! Ask the ice cream cart or trike who supplies and makes their ice cream and then research the ingredients that are used - where ice creams are made and their ingredients are sourced is very important for us as this will have a significant impact on their taste. Ask if your provider also has a high quality dairy free option as this is a very popular alternative and whether their ice creams are free from glutens. If I was looking to have ice cream served as part of a wedding breakfast, I would advise your ice cream supplier what I was serving as the main course so that flavours could be suggested that would compliment these tastes or anything else being served as dessert alongside the ice cream.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

The Tricicle began as a business in November 2015, following a summer I spent working with an ice cream supplier. I met my business partner through a parent and toddler group, and we both had experience of putting on music events and festivals. We saw there was a gap in the market for a working modern trike with good branding that could be used on the streets in an old fashioned 'stop me and buy one' style that would be quirky and supply an exceptional product thereby refreshing the rather dated concept of an ice cream van. We began with music events and then progressed to corporate events, weddings and private parties, but the core of our business will be making people smile when they see the trike being cycled around the streets.

Add to Event has been great for us. It has certainly extended our reach and the type of events we can attend.
