What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For me to provide an accurate quote I require the type of venue as well as the date and time you would like me to attend. The type of ice cream is most important as I can provide anything from a humble single cone to a showboat. Also let me know what you think your budget is so I can work around it in order to provide the perfect ice cream experience!

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Always ask the provider what their "scores on the doors" score is - that's the little green sticker the local council's Environmental Health Department give to indicate the proficiency and standard of hygiene the food outlet is operating at. If its less than a full score of five stars I would think about finding a more professional outfit.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I've been an ice cream vendor for 20 years this year and still love the job! I started out working for a friend of mine for a bit of extra money . That was it - I was hooked! I have seen a lot of ice cream men come and go, but old "Superwhippy" is still here! I always had a hankering for own my own ice cream van and realised my dream a few years ago. Since then I have not looked back! I think to be honest you could call me a bit of an ice cream van enthusiast and I love looking at the older classic ones like the Bedford CF.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I get a lot of work via Add to Event and would recommend it to anyone in my line of work. I recently did a wedding in the Maes Manor Hotel Blackwood near Newport, Gwent. It was a busy affair with lots of guests to serve, the bride and groom even had a few pictures inside my ice cream van serving ice cream to their guests!
