To provide a comprehensive quote, we need to know the exact location of your event, including the postcode and type of venue, access details and facilities available at the location are always helpful too. The number of guests you require a quote for and any dietary requirements you many have within your party are also useful. Styling of your event, so we can suggest ideas such as vintage props or specific coloured bunting to match your theme.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask details about their suppliers. Is it a local supplier? A family business? What makes their ice cream different from your average Mr Whippy style van? Why should a customer choose them over a cheaper quote they may have had? What are the range of flavours customers can choose from for their event?

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I bought my 1972 Bedford CF Ice cream van back in November 2015. I have worked in education for twenty years and managed many projects during this time, so I had lots of coordination skills. I longed to do something for myself and wanted a shop that I could turn into an ice cream parlour. I couldn't find the right shop or location, and I came across my vintage van online and took a gamble on her! I slowly built up contacts with venues who were holding events, and got some bookings and went on to have a very busy 2016 season attending festivals, weddings, vintage fairs and have a regular spot at Brindley Place Birmingham during the summer months. I am now expanding and buying an ice cream trike and taking on staff for summer 2017.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I was told about Add to Event by another trader who had used it and had lots of bookings through it. I immediately signed up and built my profile and I have had several bookings now. I think it is a brilliant tool and tell every new trader I meet. Add to Event has definitely opened up doors for me to get ongoing work as well as step into corporate events, which is very tricky to get into.
