What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
We offer a wide range of light-up letters, lighting and photo booths, so a general idea of requirements is a great start although we are more than happy to provide quotes for more multiple items, either as a discounted package or individually for comparison.
The only other information we need is a date, occasion and venue location.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Lovelight Hire are were one of the first companies to provide light-up letters for weddings, parties & events in the UK so we have a good understanding of our market.
It's always worthwhile checking the credentials and reviews of any potential supplier - Make sure they've been in business a while and it's not just a part-time hobby. What is their website like? How many social media followers do they have? Get a good understanding of exactly who you are dealing with before parting with any cash.
Also, consider the quality of the lighting - what effect will the end product deliver, are the lights unique, do they look as amazing as you hoped, are you able to visit the supplier's premises to check everything is as hoped. Find out what they're USP is.
The main thing to consider is will this company be in business when it comes around to your hire date, and even if that's difficult to spot consider what deposit would be lost in case they won't be able to supply when it comes to the special day or event - We hear horror stories all the time about how people have been let down at the last minute.
Last but by no means least - Ask any provider to demonstrate documented proof that they're equipment is safe and they have at least a generic method statement/risk assessment and can provide copy PAT (portable appliance test) certificates along with copy PLI (public liability insurance) certificates
You may end up paying a little more for a more reputable provider, but this tends to be the reason why 'cheaper' suppliers become unreliable or cease trading.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
It’s a unique and quirky idea that incorporates wedding decor with lights! We hire giant (and smaller!) letters spelling out different words! The idea started in July 2013 after seeing a much simpler version in the south. A couple had made a small set of wooden letters spelling the word “love”, they had placed them outside with a floodlight behind them, after watching the wedding party gather round posing in an around the letters to get their photos taken and the visual impact and atmosphere they had created, we fell in love with the idea and so Lovelight Hire was born!
Lovelight Hire works in cahoots with our sister company (Limelight Hire) who provide several different styles of Photo Booths and Selfie Mirrors - This alliance allows us to provide highly competitive quotes when our lighting is attached to a booth hire package.
Our experience within the wedding and events industries is now nudging into its 10th successive year - We don't scrimp on quality and we know that our customers are real people and not just an automated financial transaction.
Fast forward a few years and we have grown considerably - Not content with just any type of lighting, we insist our letters/hearts and signs are completely bespoke to us, after all, you have to stand out and we can make your event stand out with some stunning lighting hire pieces.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We are reasonably late to the party (pun intended) at Add to Event, we have been subscribed to the service for just a couple of weeks, we have already secured bookings for next year, things are looking good so far!
Of course, we have provided lighting for lots of exciting events prior - Weddings aside for the moment we have supplied lighting for 'Alan Carr's' chat show (providing the backdrop lighting for popular group Little Mix), also for ITV's Emmerdale and more recently we have been asked to provide for a 'famous German singer' at a concert in Dusseldorf, obviously, we are more than happy to help! A lot of what we do is for repeat custom too, especially for proms, year after year the schools/colleges and universities come back to us which affirms our committed service and also the quality of products.
We can see the value in working with Add to Event and it's great we can select which events suit us the best before using those all-important credits to submit a quote.
