What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For basic Light Up Letters we really only need to know the date, venue and preferred times for delivery and collection.
It would also be useful to know the intended location of the characters i.e. 'by a wall' or 'on a stage' and any power access issues.
For party lighting/decor, it would be useful to know the size of the venue, the required decorations and locations i.e. inside and/or outside and preferred colours.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The obvious requirement is their proven credentials. By checking reviews, this is quite easy with Add to Events though some newer providers might be a bit behind on reviews, in which case I would say check the companies website, Google Business Page and Social Media such as Facebook and Instagram for evidence of integrity.
Also bear in mind the service - cheap isn't always the best! How flexible are the suppliers, what are they offering within the quote, is it like for like on other quotes?
Finally, certainly for some things, geographic location is important. Remember whilst I am sure most suppliers don't want anything to go wrong, what can they offer in terms of response if things do go wrong. How else do they mitigate problems?

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

So our main business is Christmas Decorating. We provide a service to commercial and residential premises bringing that magical festive feeling to sites of all sizes, both internal and external.
We love the buzz of putting smiles on peoples faces and providing a service that is usually assisting that feel-good factor.
As we have established our business, we have naturally looked to identify areas where our products could be used to good effect elsewhere whilst giving us an opportunity to 'market' our business, it is surprising how few people know that such a service as ours exists, but its even more challenging telling people about ourselves in the summer!
As you might imagine, lighting is not in short supply with us and so it seems obvious to us to use this to good effect.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We are still developing our services that we offer through Add to Event and we are being fairly selective in those we quote for, to ensure that we meet the criteria for the advice we have provided above on selecting suppliers!
However, on all the jobs we have so far completed, the feedback has been exemplary. Its often difficult to ensure people add a review but thankfully we have a couple.
At the last party, a 40th, the client was thrilled as so many of her friends thought the illuminated "40" just added that final focal point to a lovely venue. It turns out many of our client's friends are approaching 40 and one is getting married, so through this 1 happy client, we have received many more enquiries.
One of the comments regarding this booking was the care we took. Not only did the numbers look great, but the fact we took time to ensure they were safe and secure and not a 'trip' of 'fall' hazard, also that I had turned up with extension leads and spare bulbs, just to ensure that all eventualities were covered.
