What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For a more tailored quotation, we would need the event date, description of the type of event, guests numbers, venue address and some styling cues. An indication of whether a rustic, modern or luxurious feel to the event gives us the information we need to select the correct flooring, lighting and furniture. It's also useful to know what ancillary items are needed such as catering tents, grand entrances, bars, generators and toilets. The more information provided early on, the quicker the process to get the quotation right and exactly how the customer visualises it.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Consider the style of tent that you would like. Clearspan tents are a frame marquee and traditional pole tents don't have clear canopies. Make sure that the tent company has good credentials and has plenty of online presence. If they have photos online that they are happy to show, it usually means that they take pride in their work and want to show it off. The tent size is crucial. You don't want to fill the tent to its maximum guest numbers. If it's raining and customers and guests are inside for the whole day, ensure there is space for socialising and that there is a good area for a bar and welcome area. Don't always take the lowest quotation as the preferred one. Compare the quotes and make sure that they are like-for-like. Most often some companies will give an extremely minimal quotation to hook the client only for them to find out that they need to add plenty on throughout the planning process. Make sure everything that you need is on the quote and ask for re-quotes if something is missing or needs adding.

Sperry Tents has been in the US for a number of years and hand selects outlets around the world to keep up their tradition of providing luxurious marquess to the event industry. We began the Southwest base a few years ago so that the entire UK could be covered. Papakata also provides Sperry Tents to the rest of the UK and are our partner company here.
Our goal is to provide a high-end and perfect event space for our clients and it's our eye for detail that stands us apart from the competition, not only in the UK but globally. Each outlet is known for its quality and it's what drives each team. We're proud of our product and the handcrafted nature of the tents that we manufacture and hire and we follow that pride through to our setups, regardless of the style chosen by the client.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We've not yet had a booking through Add to Event. We're new to the site but are looking forward to working with clients who have come to us on this platform.
