What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

I always find that a chat is the best way to find the perfect entertainment for your event, but in the first instance a few details are essential. The date to find out if I'm available, venue information, and what sort of entertainment you are looking for. It's no good for you to look through children's show prices and information if you are looking for some close up magic for your wedding! How long you require someone for is always good to know to as well, and if you have any questions I am always here to help as I believe that is part of my job too.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Any questions you have, don't be afraid to ask - no matter how silly you think it may be. A professional should certainly have most of the answers you are looking for and if not should have no problem in going to find an answer and getting back to you. Check on their previous clients too. If the provider you are looking at is professional they will have lots of positive comments from people that have hired them before. Also, once you think you may know who you would like for your event, get in touch with them to make a provisional booking as some dates get booked up very quickly in advance! Then sit back on it, think about it, give yourself that few days cooling off period. The when you are sure, get it booked up so you won't be disappointed. Lastly, don't view everything by price. You know what they say - you get what you pay for. Sometimes going for the cheapest option is not always the best. Entertainers have often spent many years perfecting what they do so you know you are going to get a good product.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Like so many magicians, I had a passion for magic as a child and collected the Paul Daniels magic sets. From there it very quickly grew into a bit of an obsession and I started a part time business, with every show I was saying "I want to be a magician" until finally, with the support of my partner, I quit my job and threw myself full time into a magic career literally months before I got married!! I have never looked back, and have had the honour of meeting, spending time with and learning from some of my greatest hero magicians.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

The enquiry and booking process is so straight forward with Add to Event. Once a client gets in touch you have such a good opportunity to put forward what you have to offer. They can choose then which provider they wish to contact and have every means to do so. Of course it is up to the provider to supply all their information and reply in a timely manner, but any provider worth his salt will of course do so. I think the favourite events I have booked through Add to Event are weddings as they can be so varied - no booking is ever the same
