Poppy's Mobile Catering provides bespoke mobile catering throughout Dorset and beyond. Since 2010, Poppy's have been serving a full menu drawing from European cuisine - including pork with Greek style seasoning, traditional German sausages such as Krakauer and Frankfurter imported from Germany itself, cheese baguettes made with authentic, fresh Monterey Jack cheese, and much more. Poppy's specialise in a traditional menu with a modern twist which suits events of any size or style.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To enable us to provide an accurate quote for a customer we need the date of the event and a brief outline as to what the event is. We need to know the possible footfall as well. We would also need to know if the event is indoor or outdoor, close to power & water or in a remote location. It would be good if the customer knew of special dietary needs, Gluten free, Coeliac, Vegan or Vegetarian so we can get all the necessary equipment .

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure the mobile caterer knows about their products and ask about their menu. Ask the provider about their catering unit / equipment, so you know they are going to be able to work at your event. Make sure the caterer has all of the correct documents, public liability insurance, gas safety certificate, food hygiene certificate and food handling certificate.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Poppy's Mobile Catering began because we wanted to prove that mobile catering can produce high-quality, tasty food at reasonable prices. So we chose to do things a little different and are always looking at ways to bring something special to events. Many of our customers comment on how good our food is, especially our homemade items and our homemade sauces.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have had plenty of bookings through Add to Event, so choosing one is going to be tough. We were working at a wedding reception where the evening guests require a casual bite to eat. They were blown away with what we provided. Quality hot food with fresh homemade salad and coleslaw, and our delicious German sausages. From that evening we were able to secure two more bookings, so Add to Event is a great platform to get work with. I recommend this platform.
