What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To be able to come back with an initial quote, we need to know a few bits of information: date, timings, numbers and whether the event is indoors or outdoors. Once received, we then like to have a chat with our clients/ potential clients to understand the specifics of what you are looking to achieve at your event, for example: electric points (boring), food (exciting). We can then tailor our services accordingly.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I think experience is key to a successful event, in terms of the catering. It's advisable to look at the provider's website and social media, paying particular attention to the feedback given from previous clients. Don't be afraid to pick up the phone to their previous clients to check that the reviews are real. I would also suggest asking some questions about the food, ask about the cooking process, where they source their products from etc. A good caterer would know this information.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Chop and Chip Co was founded in 2013 by two close friends. We are Marcus and Ferg and we bonded over our passion for good food. Fuelled by our desire to offer restaurant quality dishes on-the-go, we set out to create a new and unique street food concept. Chop and Chip Co was born; its mission is to serve up delicious and tender meats to the masses with a uniquely blended range of dry seasonings. The menu allows you to build up your perfect meal with an exciting array of flavours to choose from and tasty sides to add if you're extra peckish. We started our food journey in Big Bertha, an original 1972 Californian Airstream trailer which we painstakingly brought back to life from a nearly worn out state. We can still be found up and down the country at various outdoor events serving with pride from the now gleaming and fully fitted trailer.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

So, we were involved in roughly 15+ events last year through Add to Event: weddings, birthdays and corporate events. It's difficult to pick a favourite. We would certainly recommend the site. It's a simple but efficient system to use; it allows the client the opportunity get a broad range of quotes and allows us, the providers, to have the opportunity to put forward our services to people we wouldn't necessarily have been in contact with (win/win).
