Katey's Pit Stop provides mobile catering throughout Norfolk and beyond. Though set up as a traditional burger van, the menu can be bespoke and wide-ranging. Katey's Pit Stop specialises in serving those with food allergies, and so gluten and dairy free menu items are very commonplace, as well as optional menu changes to suit many other dietary restrictions.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For me to provide an accurate quote I need to know the location, number of guests, and whether electric and water is provided (as I can operate without but need to take weight and generator costs into pricing). Also, as I specialise in gluten free and dairy free, whether it is essential that products actually contain these.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Be honest! Don't over-estimate the number of people attending as it's easier for us to do a quick stock run than it is to have way too much food we can't get rid of. When advertising an event, be specific about what you want and you will get a better response and more accurate reply. This helps both parties!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have a gluten allergy and when attending any event I found I couldn't eat anything, which was really awkward. Having been a Chef for too many years I decided to open my own catering company that can offer a good quality menu so that those with food allergies are not made to feel awkward. I am passionate about delivering good quality food at an affordable price.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I've had a lot of bookings in a very short time! The first one is next Friday, so I will report back after it. We did cater an event on Saturday which was amazing and we got great reviews. This is a new business although we have a lot of experience.
