What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

There are 5 main things we need to know when quoting for our mobile bar hire. The event date, the location/town of where the event will be held, the type of venue we'll be working in, the type of event (such as a wedding or birthday party) and finally the estimated number of guests.

Once we have a rough understanding of these 5 things we can provide the organiser with various booking options and detailed quotes that will be most suited to their requirements. Even if all of the event details are yet to be confirmed we can still provide an accurate cost for our services.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When booking any kind of service for an event I would begin with the most obvious task of gathering and comparing quotes and information. This gives a general insight into how suppliers differ in the way they deliver their service.

More specifically to mobile bar hire I would pay special attention to any minimum spends that may be applied to your booking that may incur hidden costs. Even though the initial booking fee of £50 may seem like excellent value, if there is a £1500 minimum spend at the bar and at the end of the night it has only taken £900 - well then that's not such great value.

Secondly I would also advise double checking if there are any extra charges for things such as staff, glass hire, breakages, setup and removal of bottles and rubbish. Drinks prices at the cash bar may also be worth checking. Basically you want to know exactly how much the entire mobile bar service is going to cost before going ahead with a booking.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Your Event Bar was started in 2012 between 3 friends who all shared plenty of experience working in bars, pubs and nightclubs. After attending a wedding together where there was a mobile bar, the conversation quickly diverted to the idea of starting their own mobile bar company. Within about 6 months their first bookings were lined up and they've never looked back since, I'm proud to have been one third of that journey for the past 5 years.

I think the reason why starting a mobile bar company was so exciting to us was because delivering a professional bar service was something that came quite naturally to us, also the whole business model of providing a service whereby the client themselves only paid a very small amount, or in some cases nothing at all, for our service. The main source of turnover coming from drink sales at the events. I think this is also why there is such a demand for mobile bar services right now, especially at weddings where couples have a budget to stick to. It's a perfect combination which allows for a professional and affordable service.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Add to Event has now become one of our main sources of bookings. It's an incredibly simple platform which allows suppliers direct access to credible booking leads rather than the more outdated technique of just casting a wide net and hoping for the best. It's comforting to know that we're not wasting our time when sending out quotes and messaging people about our services.

We're pleased to have had plenty of bookings through Add to Event and each one has been a pleasure to provide our mobile bar service at. One that stands out in particular was a 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary whereby the couple had planned everything through Add to Event despite both being in their 70's!
