What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide an accurate quote, I need the venue location, starting time for the party, along with the finishing time. What occasion the disco is required for, and if a children's party, the age of the child.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Before booking, I recommend that clients check that the disco, has public liability insurance and has their equipment PAT tested. Many venues expect to see valid certificates. Contracts should also be provided for your peace of mind. Check also for good feedback and that your DJ is happy to play music to your requirements, most will accept advance playlists as well as requests. Spare equipment should be carried in case of an emergency replacement.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started working as a DJ during 1989 along with another person, providing a mobile and club disco. I went solo in 1994 forming Scorpio Mobile Disco. My business has always been about making people happy and having fun, from a children's disco in a draughty church hall, with prizes and games, to a plush wedding in a luxurious location, I have seen so many smiling faces, it makes the late nights and often early mornings afterwards worthwhile.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Bring new to Add to Event, I have just provided my first party, which was so much fun, the little girl was celebrating her 4th birthday, we played Pass the Parcel, Musical Statues, did limbo dancing, held a dancing competition and played Musical chairs. Finishing with a pirate balloon fight. A lot filled into an hour and we were provided with tea, cake and sandwiches. Such a lovely hour!

"Jason was very professional and took into consideration the age groups he was playing too. He played what was requested on the list we provided.
