What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To provide a comprehensive quote to a potential customer, the very least I need to know is the event date, venue location, services required and the playing times required. Ideally, I would also like to be advised whether the venue is outside or inside, upstairs or downstairs, the type of event, estimated crowd and an idea of the desired music genres. I can then confirm availability and give a definite price quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look for an experienced DJ who can show a number of good customer reviews. If you have particular music requirements, discuss them with the DJ before hiring to ensure that they can meet your requirements. Ask if they play requests on the night or if they will accept a customer's playlist in advance.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Music is my great love. I have wide-ranging musical tastes and knowledge. My first experience as a DJ was playing records each week at my school youth club. That was a long time ago but more recently, I and a couple of friends organised Soul nights where we each played a DJ set. That inspired a desire to play other genres of music for people so I bought more equipment and started Buzzz Mobile Disco. I love to see people enjoying the music I play.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

One particularly memorable gig booked through Add to Event was at the Wyvern Club in Taunton in February 2020. After the booking was confirmed, I was given a hospital appointment for a biopsy on the same day. I was a bit apprehensive but there was no way I would let a customer down. The biopsy was very painful and I was feeling rather fragile so I arranged for a friend to do the disco with me as a sort of insurance policy. As it turned out, although I was glad to have her with me, she wasn't needed. It was a 21st Birthday party for which I'd had a lot of discussions with the customer beforehand. A lovely crowd of people had a lot of fun and filled the dance floor throughout the evening. The customer was delighted and she gave me a great review.
