Place Images - David Kennedy Photography can provide a straight photography service, reportage style, for your event or can offer the ability for guests to have their own photos taken and printed then and there. They also offer advice to ensure getting the best service from a photographer for your event.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a great quote for your fab event, we need to know date and location, the amount of time you want us to be taking and printing photographs, and any special requirements.

We can set up a studio and printing base within a building or marquee, or we can provide a mobile studio outside, so we need to know which suits your event best. We also need to know if you have a theme for the event so that we can tailor our proposal to that.

We need to know if you want to print at the event (we usually do 6 by 8-inch prints) or not. We always provide an online gallery to order prints from after the event. If you want to have some prints for yourself and for guests included in our package, please let us know if you want this and how many you want. Otherwise, we will charge per print to your guests.

Finally please note that to provide the full service we will need access to electricity, an area of about 20 square metres, and either wifi or good mobile phone data reception on EE.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

There's a lot of people who think it is easy to be a photographer. How many people just ask a mate? You need to make sure that you have a professional who is used to working for clients, not just someone who takes the photos they want. You need to have someone who can relate to what you want to get from your event and from the photography. Yes, they should have a good camera and equipment, but more importantly, they need to be able to use it for your needs. They also need to have an on-site event printer - not just the kind of thing you have at home. And they need to be able to deliver prints and an online gallery quickly after the event.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I've always been a passionate photographer and a people person. I started in business in 2017 after many years of learning my craft. I love using my skills to tell other people's stories and helping to illustrate great memories. That's why I offer a bespoke service with a real photographer and not a machine that just takes the same photo repeatedly at any event it goes to. You are the centre of this as my customer and I am passionate about providing you with the best service possible.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have just started with Add to Event but have done lots of events for clients. One of my favourites in June this year was a conference where I captured formal sessions, socialising, a dinner, workshops, the setting of the event, individual portraits, study tours, groups and so on, a bit of everything really. It was great fun and the client was really really happy. It was the second year of doing the same event as they rebooked me after the success of last year. They'd never used a pro photographer before and loved my visual storytelling so much they asked me back for this year and have already asked to book me for next year.
