Pizza Loco is a pizza-based catering company who serve events in Leeds and beyond. Though the menu is pizza focused, it also includes antipasti and salads along with many gluten-free and vegan options. The actual oven is mounted on a train which provides an interesting visual element to guests.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

First of all we'd like the event date, location, and number of guests. We can then quickly respond with an accurate quote including mileage, deposit, and payment deadlines so everyone knows where they stand. Following on from this, we'd like any dietary requirements, venue access restrictions, serving times, and any other requests we can assist with.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask how many people they can serve per hour and how many staff they require to do so. Also ask what local produce they use as this is a good indicator as to how much they care about what they're serving. If you have dietary requirements (vegetarian/gluten-free), ask what measures they take to prevent food contamination such as flour, or meat to vegetables.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Pizza Loco is the result of two mad creators. One whose skills lie in construction, and the other obsessed with food experimentation. The lightbulb moment of the locomotive design sparked when deciding to mount the oven on the back of our trailer after it bared resemblance to a train's firebox. Why just have an oven when you can have a wood-fired pizza train? And why just have pizza, when you can have wood-fired Neapolitan pizza?

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I would and frequently do recommend Add to Event to people. Enquiries come through every day. Often from places or organisations you wouldn't just stumble across, too. We had a 2 day wedding at a manor house in the Lake District last year, which was picturesque. We served wood-fired pizza to the guests in the evening, and a pizza and salad buffet to the ease the sore heads the following lunchtime. Everything went down extremely well, plus we got an amazing road trip and overnight stay out of it!
