Davies & Howell Food Events provide Professional Chefs and have been in the restaurant and private catering industry for over 20 years. What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a detailed quote, ideally we need the date & time of the event, what you are expecting in terms of the food offering for your guests, how many people it is for, kitchen facilities and whether it is indoors or outdoors.
From this we can send you suitable menu ideas for you to choose from as well as prices.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask the provider what kind of style they offer and how formal or informal their offering is.
Also, find out what they provide inclusive of their quote and what they don't provide as you might be expecting something they don't provide.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Davies and Howell Food Events started out just before lockdown. We have always cooked for high-end food events in London but wanted to offer our services to the Cambridgeshire & Essex areas too, having moved to these areas.
We mainly focused on small intimate private dinners in people's homes and venues but then had to change our offerings to a delivery service during the pandemic which is where we came up with our Afternoon tea Boxes. Then as the gatherings were allowed to increase in numbers, we were able to do outdoor BBQs, Canape Parties, Bowl Food Events and grazing tables then small weddings again.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Our first ever booking via Add to Event was quite local to us and at that stage, they wouldn't have been able to find us without Add to Event. They were looking for high-end restaurant standard food in the comfort of their own home for a birthday celebration with friends. They were so impressed which led to us cooking for some of their guests at a later date for their celebrations.
We have recommended Add to Event to both other private chefs to become a supplier as well as using Add to Event to look for a service they require. We continue to promote this platform.
