Located in Harrogate, J and J Kitchen is a family run business. The mother and daughter team have over 30 years of experience in the trade, and cater for events in a 15 mile radius of Harrogate. Providing catering for working lunches, private parties and celebrations, all of their food is home made.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a workable quote for a customer, I need to know the venue, date, type of food from
the menu categories I advertise, and how much they would like to spend per head.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would advise customers to look at my profile, so that they have a clear idea of not just menu items available but also the appearance of my food. They can then feel fairly certain that they are approaching the right sort of caterer. I would also ask the caterer what level of service they are able to provide and if they can accommodate any special requirements.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
J and J Kitchen was started three years ago following a long spell in the hospitality industry as a food and beverage manager and also an HR manager within the industry. I have also covered practically every job within the hotel trade so have a lot of experience.
I had my own catering business when my daughters were very young, which was quite a challenge! I had a feeling for it again and decided that I wanted to pursue this passion once again. I love working with people, trying to give them the best service and food quality. It is great to please my clients, which is what it is all about!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
My last booking from Add to Event was a house party and my next booking in a week or two is also through Add to Event. My last booking went very well, great client, easy to please and she ordered the sort of buffet food which looks spectacular on the table. She was delighted with our service.
