DJ Chrissie is a female solo singer who performs at events in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. As well as the actual performance, DJ Chrissie also provides and takes care of the professional PA system and lighting, professional backing tracks, wireless microphones, background music, disco and lighting, backdrops, props, playlists and photo projection.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
I definitely need the full address and postcode but most importantly the start and finish time of the event, access to the hall in order to set up and sound check. I need to know if the client is looking for a relaxed or lively atmosphere. I am happy to cater to playlists and learn special songs to sing.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Please listen to demos and look at showreels as some vocalists are clearly better singers than others. Listen for their technical ability but also be sure that their singing is emotive. Some singers can sing a tune nicely but not fully deliver a song. A good singer will also have a sense of stage presence.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I have been singing since the age of 9 years old but started professionally just over three years ago. I sing all different decades and eras but specialise in the 50's and 60's era. My act 'Chrissie Cadillac' was inspired by seeing too many suspect Elvis tributes who simply mumble through such great songs. I knew I could bring more to the table!
