What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to give the most accurate information for a client's quote, we require the time of day that they will need us. Knowing how long they would like us to play for is also very useful. A description of the nature of the event is also much appreciated. With this information, we can supply an equal amount of options for the client to look over.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Try to see some examples of what they do. It sounds obvious, but you should definitely aim to see some videos of the performers in action. Sometimes, musicians are able to offer different line ups and packages, be sure to ask to see if they can supply exactly what you want - you could also see something that you want but didn't expect! Also, enquire to see what they normally offer for the type of event you are booking them for. Usually, they have a ton of experience to draw from and may be able to help you with the planning.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

The idea is to keep things simple while retaining the magic and energy that live music gives to each of our events. I have worked for various agencies and other musicians for a long time but have always had a great desire to do things for myself. I learned that many people and agencies complicate the process of hiring musicians. With Octavas, my goal was to offer only the very best when it comes to live music while at the same time allowing a personal touch and stress-free experience for our clients when hiring. Having had a seasoned background in the industry, I knew that if I wanted to implement my plans it would have to be with something that I could nurture and grow myself. It is truly humble beginnings but I have big plans for our future.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have played at so many lovely parties and weddings and we feel lucky to have been involved in every one of them. One great event that sticks out is a corporate party in Oxfordshire. There were lots of attractions, games, snack bars, and of course live music. Lots of fun for the employees and their families. The mood was really positive and we got a great buzz from it.
