What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To provide the most accurate quote that meets the needs of the customer, it is important to get a wide variety of information. For starters, the key points are whether the event is inside or outside, what the ground type is (concrete, grass, flat, sloping etc - a picture of the area is really helpful) and the rough size of stage the event requires. For sound quotes, the most important information is the size of the audience area and the type of material being put through the sound system (bands, speech, DJ etc). Lighting really is so flexible that the more detail a customer can give the better as well as a rough budget if possible to make sure the quote represents the requirements of the customer and within a realistic budget. Once we have the appropriate information for any aspect of the event service requirements, we can specify the most appropriate systems for the event.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

A provider should always have a good technical knowledge so don't be afraid to ask questions as to why they have specified or advised certain systems. With regard to stages, safety is paramount. Suppliers should be able to provide the safe vertical load for stage deck, and roof systems should have a wind loading limit and structural calculations if they can have equipment hung from them. Asking a few questions and checking how a supplier ensures the safety of their systems can help provide peace of mind that they are suitable for the event.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Aura Event Services was formed to fill an apparent gap in quality services for events. We have always aimed to make the event organiser's life easier, by being a single source for the event production services. We have always used proven industry standard equipment that is up to the rigours of event life and complies with all relevant safety requirements to help make events safer.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Having only recently started using Add to Event, we haven't yet completed a booking through the platform. What we have noticed is that it is a fantastic portal to new customers with a number of enquiries coming through from it so we are very optimistic about future bookings. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend Add to Event to peers in the event industry as a way of reaching out to new potential clients. As well as being a great system for suppliers, the benefit to customers looking for services is that they can submit one enquiry and get a number of suppliers quoting instead of having to individually submit enquiries to various companies and this can only be a good thing for the events industry.
