Heffe Mojo is a Cuban inspired catering business based in Teesside that provides a unique pop up street food experience from a converted 1983 Rice horse trailer. Their menu includes iconic Cuban pressed sandwiches, rice dishes, Cuban grills & they cater for both vegetarians & vegans.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
Which date & specific times would you require us to serve customers? Is the event indoors or outdoors? For how many people would we be catering for? Does the venue have sufficient space & solid ground for pulling & parking a trailer? Does the venue have access to power & water? Does the venue require any special permits for trading? The more information we receive the sooner we can provide a comprehensive quote.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Be clear on what type of event you are looking to host. Ask for a copy of the vendor's menu. Ensure you communicate any specific dietary requirements. Clarify the final costings before you commit to booking a vendor. Maintain good communication at all times.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Heffe Mojo was an idea born in the first UK lockdown of March 2020. El Heffe (the boss) had always dreamed of owning his own street food business after over two decades of working in the hospitality sector. Within a few months, with hours of work in the development kitchen behind us & our super cool 1983 Rice horse trailer fully converted. We were ready to roll on the open road & Heffe Mojo was born!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Heffe Mojo provided the catering for a local community event just after the lockdown ended in Spring 2021. Despite difficult weather conditions, the feedback was amazing. Most of the customers had never tasted Cuban street food before so it was a new experience for them and they loved it! Even the ones that decided not to dip their toe into Latino cuisine were happy to opt for a traditional wood-fired pizza instead. We always recommended Add to Event to other street food traders and hospitality vendors we meet on our travels!
