Chloé’s Candy Cart Company hires out a hand-built candy cart to Weddings and Parties across Suffolk and Norfolk. Find out about their intriguing personal story and hear their advice for when booking your own supplier.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To enable us to provide an accurate quote we would need the location of the event, the number of guests attending (we know this isn't always easy, but we can work with a rough figure) and ideally the type of event you are looking to hire our services for. Once we have all of this information, we will be able to provide you with a quote :)

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My biggest advice would be to look at reviews and all forms of their advertising, website, social media etc. If someone has hundreds of reviews and have only been in business a short while, personally it would make me wonder if they were all legitimate. For me, I would want to know that the person I have been speaking to is the person who will be attending my event, as I would feel that they know what I would like. Don't be afraid to shop around and look at prices, any good supplier will be happy to supply with a comprehensive quote.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

We started our businesses as my husband's grandad built our beautiful cart for our wedding. He used to be a wheelwright (makes the horse-drawn wagons) and knew we would have loved one at our wedding. On our day we had so many people asks us about it! A friend of the family saw our wedding photos and wanted to hire the cart and that really is where it all started. My husband is a painter and decorator which means the cart is always in beautiful condition. I love our story and know that our cart can bring someone the same happiness it brought us. Ultimately, I want to make the process as stress-free as possible and want to offer great value for money as I know how expensive events can be! We base our costs solely on the number of guests, never on the type of event :)

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have been very fortunate to receive plenty of quote requests and many of these have turned into bookings, some of these at venues we have already attended and some at completely new venues. I would have to say one of my favourites has been a wedding at a venue we had never been to in Norwich. We have always offered a good mixture of sweets and previously added vegetarian and vegan sweets to events we have supplied. This particular booking required a completely gluten-free range of sweets due to the bride's dietary requirements. We were able to provide an extensive list of sweets they could choose from. The venue looked completely stunning and the cart looked amazing in there! Communication was so easy from start to finish through Add to Event and we look forward to being accepted for future bookings through the site :)
