What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

The basic information we require relates to the actual event; the date it is to be held, the venue and the proposed timings. In addition we need as much secondary detail as possible - what is the venue like, is it indoors or outdoors, is there good loading access etc. In certain circumstances we will need more specific information. If, for example, you are hiring LED trees, we will need clarification on availability of power supplies.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Find out as much about your provider as possible, and the items or services they stipulate are available. There are huge variations in quality of items and services for hire - do you know if your uplighting will be provided utilising the cheapest, poor quality Chinese imported lighting available or best in the world equipment? Always check social media for comments, reviews and details of the latest hire stock available. Always ask if a supplier is willing to demonstrate their goods or services; good providers will be glad of the opportunity to meet and discuss your exact requirements!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started Ice and Lights Events as it seemed to me there was a market to provide the very, very best services and decor hire for weddings and events. We have moved from simply making our own ice sculptures to all types of specialised event lighting such as searchlight hire and projection mapping, at prices that are literally a fraction of the large companies providing such services. We now supply a huge range of decor and services to the wedding industry - from LED dance floors to incredible crystal candelabra centrepieces, from led backdrops to confetti cannons, from LOVE letters to LOVE tables and thrones! All of our services and hire items are however set at incredible prices and we genuinely believe we offer the most competitive prices in the country for some of the finest decor and services available.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Not all of our bookings are for the usual wedding accessories such as centrepieces! We also offer more specialised services such as searchlight hire which we recently carried out at a local charity ball, although we obviously tend to do more general wedding decor such as LOVE letter, blossom arch, uplighting or centrepiece hire. What makes us special is not only the vast range of services and goods we have available for hire - it is the fact that we supply many items that are totally unique, bespoke and simply stunning! Add to Event does give an excellent opportunity to work with customers who we may not otherwise have been able to contact, with the added bonus that enquiries are genuine, unlike some sites.
